About this artwork
My sketchbooks have always been visual diaries, recording aspects of life and topical issues of the time. Escaping the private seclusion this series started in the late 80s as experiments in exploring the abstract with reality, some more successful than others. At the same time, I became more interested in the throw-away society of the plastic age, having concluded that for me, abstract had become predictable, the images became more narrative as…
well as exploring colour and texture. The flow of ideas can often be fast and spontaneous and result in many works being produced in one day.

Jamie Andrews is British multimedia artist currently living in Suffolk. His work explores several genres - landscape, portrait, religious, political, social and satirical. His inspiration to become an artist stems from his family, particularly his father who was an art dealer, leading him to playfully draw, opening a whole new world of visual communication.
