About this artwork
Ports, due to their maritime location, often benefit from air laden with humidity, and therefore a misty atmosphere. This is ideal for contrasting the geometric rigor of container ships with the delicacy of light and colors softened by the mist. This creates a very poetic emotion, imagining the seas and oceans to be crossed, then distant destinations, and thus connecting the human community. In Lisbon, a capital with centuries-old maritime history,… this tugboat is the first link guiding the ship to reach the Atlantic Ocean and begin its journey. We can almost hear the dull sound of the foghorn.
« The alchemy of the light of the sky and water, the infinite variety of their combined reflections are the basis of the emotions that I invite you to share. »
Jean-Claude Pallier is an experienced artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. Inspired by the sea in all its forms, he is equally as fascinated by ships, the light of coastal landscapes, and the atmospheres of ports, which is translated through his works. Pallier creates in a realistic and figurative style, favoring acrylics on linen.
