About this artwork
This work "The tennis player" is an iron sculpture of 112/52 cm. I am also a keen tennis player and my dogs accompany me to a match most days.
My goal was to reflect the passion and energy of tennis through the solidity of cast iron and capture the dynamic movement of a dedicated athlete in action.
First I make a drawing of the figure or figures I want to make. I take this to the Work Center so they can expand it to the size I require. With tracing… paper I draw the shapes that I have decided I need to make my sculpture. With carbon paper I draw the shapes on cardboard that I then cut out. These shapes serve as a template to repeat the sculptures. He then placed the templates on the iron sheet which he then took to the foundry to cut.

Jenifer Carey is a painter, printmaker, and sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy and the United Kingdom. Music, especially jazz, is one of the main recurring themes in her art. Carey employs engraving and sculptural techniques for the faces of her subjects, whose hands and movements are always expressive. In addition, she portrays her observations and life experiences in order to "capture a moment". She creates using oils on canvas.
