About this artwork
A great blue heron moves through the frame with that particular grace only stillness in motion can produce. Wings spread wide, neck curved forward, the bird glides over water that mirrors the sky in deep blues and purples, touched with pink and gold from a softly glowing sun. This is the heron as I know it, painted from years of watching these birds move through the refuge beside my studio. There is a quality to their flight that invites you to slow…
