About this artwork
This one off collagraph / hand stitched / collage print is inspired by the true story of an ancient woman discovered buried in a remote sacred landscape. She was said to have been a traveller from far away, and it was a mystery of how she found herself in such a place, together with her journey objects. Interested in the notion of how we can take the past and bring it into the present and use our imagination to weave it into our own story. Here…
she is holding her wonder ball, a symbolic totem used in sharing of stories, fables and myths.

« I'm interested in storytelling, exploring the self, creative and therapeutic expression and emotional landscapes - both real and imagined. »
It was whilst accompanying a friend to a ceramics class in her mid-forties that Jill Carter discovered her creative talent. A first-class honours degree and fully-funded MFA soon followed, and she now exhibits her surrealist, mixed-media portraits across the UK.
