About this artwork
"Call Me Seagirl" was painted in enamel on ceramic tile as part of the "Making Waves" series, created during time spent on the Portuguese coast. Where other works in the series observe water from a distance, this one is submerged in it — painted from inside the wave, not before it.
Deep cobalt and sapphire strokes sweep and curl across a warm sandy ground, trailing teal and aquamarine as they go. The layered gestures evoke both the physicality of… a body moving through water and water moving through a body — fluid, unresisted, entirely at home. There is something unabashedly sensual here: the colours bleed and overlap with the ease of someone who has stopped fighting the current.
The title is an invitation as much as an identity. The ceramic surface matters here. A vivid and immersive work for collectors drawn to abstraction that feels genuinely alive.
