About this artwork
I created this ceramic tile as part of my "Making Waves" series" during time spent at the Portuguese coast. I explore water as both a physical and emotional phenomenon — ocean’s deeply symbolic and sensual side. The work grew from observing how waves move — never static, always shifting — and how similar rhythms appear in inner states of tension and release. I work with layered gestures, colour and structure, allowing fluid brushstrokes to interact…
with more defined forms. Rather than illustrating a specific place, I try to distil a sensation: movement suspended, energy held for a moment before it changes direction. I hint the idea behind each of these works through titles with selected lyrics from the music accompanying me throughout this period. "Pearl Diver" is a visual story of hidden lust and wanting to be found. With its interplay of warm sand tones and cool blues suggests an underwater descent toward shimmering treasure.
