'When the Storm comes' is a painting from 'Abstract Landscape' series created by the artist during second lockdown. As a response to Pandemic and time of isolation Joanna Pilarczyk paints a series of imaginary landscapes representing her actual feelings and emotions like anxiety, fear, love, nostalgia. She translate them into atmospheric scenes by choosing the right colour palette and composition, from very expressive and energetic to those who… are quiet and reflect the calmness and relaxation. Pilarczyk founds her inspiration in wild and so different places as Iceland, Sahara or beautiful landscape of England where she lives. She combine old Chinese Ink painting techniques with modern and contemporary style.
The artist experiments with the subject painting in ink, watercolour, powder pigments and gouache.
