About this artwork
This is a limited edition Giclée print. Even after the Jan. 6, 2020 insurrection aimed at killing Vice President Mike Pence to Keep Trump in Power, Many of the old campaign signs in Rural America have never been removed or updated. This shot was taken in 2024. In much of the West, dirt Roads lead to dying towns where all that’s left of commerce, if you’re lucky, is a gas pump, a bail bondsman, a run-down beer joint and a church of one sort or another.…
What once passed for downtowns are now boarded up often collapsed buildings. The only signs of life tend to be an overabundance of flags, crosses and gun advertisements, the images of the last things left to hold on to now that everything else is gone. This photo is part of an ongoing project I’ve been working on for a while. It’s tentatively titled Crosses, Flags and Guns: The economic roots of Christian Nationalism.
