In this work, I deliberately captured the stillness of a modern, urban moment. The black and white photography highlights the architectural structure, while the single figure brings movement and life to the scene. It invites the viewer to experience a moment of peace and anticipation amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life and lends a timeless, contemplative energy to any space.
Joerg Surmann is a self-taught artist who originally designed stage sets and posters and now works primarily with photography. His works are almost exclusively in black and white, allowing him to capture the essence of the moment and eliminate distractions; the focus is not on the perfect image, but on capturing fleeting situations. His photographs convey a slower-paced view of everyday stories and invite the viewer to pause and reflect.
