Ascending Calm
From the “Light & Airy” Series
The feeling of taking a deep breath and arriving.
"Ascending Calm" captures the moment when energy rises and creates clarity. Part of the "Light & Airy" series, this work uses the fluid movement of water to create an atmosphere of lightness and vastness. A place where the busyness of everyday life fades away.
The Process: Co-creation with the Elements
As with all my works, I have completely… moved away from using brushes. Instead, I use water as my medium, guiding the pigments exclusively with my hands through the fluid flow.
This intuitive process allows the paint to form organic edges reminiscent of natural phenomena like ocean currents or veils of mist. It is a dance between intention and surrendering to gravity.

Johanne Bossmann is a Cologne-based painter who works primarily with highly diluted acrylics on raw canvas, drawing from a background in both art and art therapy. Her process emphasizes intuition and material dialogue, balancing minimalism with emotional depth.
