About this artwork
The work "Warm Echo" is a fascinating exploration of transparency and meditative rhythm. Using a special fluid technique, highly diluted acrylic paints were layered in concentric, organic rings that gently sway from the center outwards. The work captures the balance between the presence of the pigment and the lightness of the water – with the aesthetics of watercolor and the permanence of acrylic.
Process & Philosophy: Rooted in my work on… nervous system regulation, this image emerged through slow, deliberate movements. Each layer requires patience to allow the "echoes" of the color to develop naturally. The circular composition serves as a visual anchor, inviting the viewer to pause and find a moment of stillness.
Inspiration: With warm, earthy red tones and minimalist aesthetics, the work brings grounded energy and “quiet power” to modern interiors that appreciate depth and organic forms.
Johanne Bossmann is a Cologne-based painter who works primarily with highly diluted acrylics on raw canvas, drawing from a background in both art and art therapy. She applies pigments by hand, creating rhythmic, transparent layers reminiscent of watercolor, resulting in meditative abstractions defined by gentle color transitions and organic forms. Her process emphasizes intuition and material dialogue, balancing minimalism with emotional depth. Through harmonious palettes and soft, atmospheric compositions, she seeks to evoke stillness and acts of pause, inviting viewers to experience serenity, balance, and a refuge from life’s overstimulation.
