About this artwork
Juxtaposing images is a technique that I have often used in order to enable me to express certain emotions and in this case, certain spacial differentials.. The subject matter and the contrasts are obvious, on a representational and symbolic level. However, beyond this, my intention is to use one small area of colour against an otherwise neutral greyish background. There is a bit of mystery in that window. I also wanted to create a sense of perspective…
with the side of the building. With this series of prints, the photographic images that I have used, were all taken from real old buildings that were shortly thereafter destroyed as the city was going through a "metamorphosis".
