About this artwork
ARTWORK SHOWS HORIZONTALLY AND VERTICALLY. This work, completed 2/19/20, is heavy impasto oil, and will be dry enough to ship by 04/20 to 05/01.
Its a warm day in May of 2019, and I'm taking a studio break to grab some fresh air. I'd been going at it pretty hard in the studio with some figurative acrylics and just needed to feel the sun and smell the fresh spring air. The gardens were in early bloom and Cherry Blossoms were drifting in the breeze… dropping white petals all around the landscape. It was a stunning chaos of color, but I was actually irritated with this beautiful distraction (being hyper-focused on another body of work). I knew I needed to paint that moment in oil, but it was not the time. I do truly hate studio distractions!!!
Well...it took some time, but here is that moment recaptured in oil. Its a visual dance of strength and movement, form, function and gently balanced within the randomness of nature and physical happenstance.
« Either way, my message for the viewer is simple. Enjoy my work for its visual elements. Experience the excitement of the micro, macro, and then the subliminal. Rinse and repeat. »
Jon Parlangeli is a passionate American painter and sculptor who has widely exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Fascinated by the process of creation, he composes works that experiment with color and the physicality of paint. Parlangeli's creations stand out for their depth and tactility, appearing as explosions of bright color and unexpected shapes. Parlangeli additionally includes a representational balance of nature and humanity in his work, that merges with abstract elements to create a kind of historic bibliophile hidden in the paint.
