Another in the series from my last visit to Sans Souci on the lake. This spot was a fascinating discovery for me as the gardens, now wild, were obviously planted many, many years ago for a home and people now long gone. Of the home only vine covered remains of stone exist amidst this landscape, and as a huge fan of archeology I could not help but to wonder what happened to this family who lived… here so many years ago. Who were they and where did they come from? How did they get here and why did they leave this place? What were their lives like back then? These questions continued to creep into my head during the entire painting process, yet, they did not interfere with the work itself. They actually made my process somewhat transcendental, a beautiful experience of paint amidst time past and present; a cathartic meditation of brushstoke and harmony of color in nature.
« Either way, my message for the viewer is simple. Enjoy my work for its visual elements. Experience the excitement of the micro, macro, and then the subliminal. Rinse and repeat. »
Jon Parlangeli is a passionate American painter and sculptor who has widely exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Fascinated by the process of creation, he composes works that experiment with color and the physicality of paint. Parlangeli's creations stand out for their depth and tactility, appearing as explosions of bright color and unexpected shapes. Parlangeli additionally includes a representational balance of nature and humanity in his work, that merges with abstract elements to create a kind of historic bibliophile hidden in the paint.
