About this artwork
This Medusa face is made with a mosaic of copper sheets, green stone eyes and silk snakes. What attracted the artist to create this mythological figure is the strength of his eyes. She was one of the Gorgona sisters, formerly a beauty turned into a monster by Athena after betraying her celibate vows and marrying Poseidon. Who dares to look her directly in the eyes becomes stone. That power is what I intended to replicate in this work of art.
