About this artwork
Scolopendra is my first articulated sculpture. It is made of epoxy segments and wire legs. These segments were made from two identical silicone molds. In total there are 20 segments plus the head and tail. The body color is dark gray and the tail and head are cobalt blue. Millipede and scolopendra are other names for this creature.

Juan Isasa, a sculptor who resides in Spain, has exhibited his works nationally, as well as in China, Indonesia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The two sources for his inspiration are the animal kingdom and the human face. Both demographics allow Isasa to combine beauty and complexity while celebrating and expressing diversity. He creates using stone, textiles, resin, cast iron, aluminium, and acrylics.
