About this artwork
"New Generation I" a work that challenges conventions with its intriguing composition and bold technical treatment. In this oil painting, the viewer encounters the figure of a young man, the only protagonist in the painting. The most notable thing about this composition is the risky disposition of the subject, who is located on the far right of the canvas, even cutting out part of his own figure. The young man portrayed in an attitude of relaxation… and reflection, is presented sitting with his eyes closed, his right hand half resting on his face. His posture conveys a sense of confidence and serenity, evoking the grandeur of Michelangelo's classic sculptures. The technical treatment used in the work, applied in a pasted manner, presents very diluted areas that generate interesting falls and textures. The predominant tonal range is light, dominated by spotted whites that give luminosity to the composition.
