With this geometric flower design and the materials and techniques applied, I wanted to evoke a natural, living element that evolves and transforms. The spirals within are ancient forms that symbolize the evolution of the universe and growth. The colours remind us of the morning light at dawn, an expression of hope and new beginnings. To this end, the upper part of the work is made with lighter shades while the lower part features a darker gradient.
Jules Vissers, an internationally acclaimed textile artist, emanates a unique blend of European education and intrinsic passion for traditional textile crafting. By manipulating Italian yarns through techniques like hand-tufting, embroidery, and crochet, she masterfully translates Florence's tapestry heritage into a dazzling mix of abstraction and figurativeness. Her work aims to depict the quest for beauty, love, and connection, positioning these emotions as remedies to alienation, emanating harmony and belonging.
