About this artwork
This work is part of my ongoing exploration of impermanence and the fragile nature of what we hold dear.
Created along the shores of Waimānalo, Oʻahu, this photograph was inspired by the quiet realization that what we cherish most can change, disappear, or transform in an instant, much like sunrise itself.
The light we witness for only a moment is never exactly the same again. Beauty exists not despite that truth, but because of it.
The distant… island, partially revealed through the foreground, became intentional. Not everything we value is fully within reach or clearly seen. Sometimes what matters most exists in fragments, memory, or passing glimpses.
For me, Beholding is about appreciation in the present moment, the awareness that nothing remains unchanged, and the quiet beauty found in that understanding.
This work invites the viewer to reflect on what they hold dear, precisely because it will not remain as it is forever.
