About this artwork
The shadow horse is so named because as he gallops in his arena his entire shadow can be seen on the wall behind him. It is particularly nice to see that all four feet are off the ground. I met this Lusitano stallion in Portugal where he lives. In the stud farm there is a sand school with a marvellous white wall, which provides the backdrop to this frisky individual's joyous performance after being release in the school.
I found his activity inspiring,… and was thrilled to see I had captured him totally off the ground.
