About this artwork
This is the framed version of a picture entitled Follow my Leader. In the Camargue there are small herds of horses, and photography is assisted by the guardiens (cowboys) who look after the health of the horses, which otherwise roam freely.
Usually photographs are achieved when the herd is encouraged towards the photographer, but in this case, the guardiens were not involved. The leader of the small group took a decision to head off in a particular… direction, which suited my shot perfectly. I therefore had the chance to capture his leadership and the followers without any assistance from guardiens which was rather satisfying.
