About this artwork
Friesian Horses come from the north of Holland which is where I photographed this lovely moment between a mare and her foal. She reassures him that the presence of a photographer is not a threat and he is calm.
There is something particularly endearing about his wobbly, skinny legs and his little brushlike tail, which will develop into something magnificent, as the Friesian genetic background determines. I love the long tails and ebullient manes… of the grown up stallions and they provide wonderful photographic subjects
