About this artwork
It's an echo. A memory. A soul in color. The dominant depth of blue envelops the face like an inner ocean—multi-layered, fluid, sometimes still, sometimes turbulent. Like my life. Blue here doesn't represent coldness, but consciousness: thinking, feeling, being lost, and searching all at once. It is the color of introspection—and perhaps also of melancholy.
The face itself is suggested, not fixed. Clear enough to be seen – open enough to be many.… The lines are reduced yet expressive. What remains is presence – not an image, but a spiritual imprint. Like a moment frozen between past and present. "Blue Soul" is a portrait that doesn't look, but invites – to an inner encounter. It speaks of depth, sensitivity, perhaps also of vulnerability. But above all, of the courage to show oneself without fully explaining oneself.
Katharina Goniwiecha is a self-taught artist from Germany who works in the interplay of abstraction and figuration. Using acrylic, oil pastel, and graphic elements, she creates atmospheric pictorial spaces that unfold layer upon layer with depth, movement, and resonance.
A central theme of her work is the connection between inner processes and visible surfaces: healing, self-awareness, and the fragile balance between vulnerability and strength. Feminine energy, emotional intensity, and quiet contemplation are recurring motifs that shape her imagery.
Her art invites viewers to pause and reflect their own feelings in the multifaceted atmospheres. This creates works that not only invite contemplation, but also experience—as a bridge between inner and outer, intimacy and universal experience.
