About this artwork
"Rumwolken" captures the floating between clarity and blur—a moment in which thoughts, memories, and feelings hang in space like clouds. Sometimes light, sometimes heavy, always in motion. The work speaks of states that cannot be captured: a mixture of dream and reality, between near and far, between lightness and weight. Clouds that gather, dissolve, and reform.
In painting, this impression is created by soft areas of color and diffuse transitions,… interspersed with spontaneous gestures and oil pastel accents. Lines and structures appear and disappear again—like thoughts that are briefly tangible before moving on.
"Rumwolken" is part of my ongoing exploration of inner states and atmospheric spaces. The work invites viewers to find their own associations—perhaps a memory, a feeling, or a moment of floating between the inner and outer world.
Katharina Goniwiecha is a self-taught artist from Germany who works in the interplay of abstraction and figuration. Using acrylic, oil pastel, and graphic elements, she creates atmospheric pictorial spaces that unfold layer upon layer with depth, movement, and resonance.
A central theme of her work is the connection between inner processes and visible surfaces: healing, self-awareness, and the fragile balance between vulnerability and strength. Feminine energy, emotional intensity, and quiet contemplation are recurring motifs that shape her imagery.
Her art invites viewers to pause and reflect their own feelings in the multifaceted atmospheres. This creates works that not only invite contemplation, but also experience—as a bridge between inner and outer, intimacy and universal experience.
