About this artwork
Some areas of the image appear to have been sprayed (which they are not), reminiscent of graffiti or street art. The use of neon yellow and green also brings an energetic and modern touch to the image, while the blue in the background provides a calming base. In the foreground there is a semi-circular structure in bright yellow, which takes on the central role in the composition and breaks over the edge of the image into the passepartout, while numerous… curved lines bring movement to the work.
The collage elements from previous works can be interpreted as mementos or as parts of a larger narrative (yellow block) that the painting tells. The story is: art is the bridge between painting and writing, where every line is a narrative and every word is an image.
For Katharina Stegmeier, art is far more than decoration—it is both a message and a skill. As a child, she drew diaries before she could write, thus developing her creative expressiveness early on. Her works reflect the ambivalences of our time, social issues, and the complexity of life.
In her works, she combines intense expressiveness with calm reflection, structure with freedom. Contrasts play a central role, often symbolized by the colorful "counterpoint," which acts as an anchor to maintain the balance of her compositions and underscore their messages.
Katharina Stegmeier's works invite you to slowly immerse yourself in them. Those who embrace their rhythm discover worlds between layering and transparency, between formal fragments and emotional imprints—works that linger long after the viewer has turned away.
