About this artwork
The artwork "Breathe" is a classic mixed media work made from ash, rock flour, charcoal, and pigments on a gesso board. It is an informal work, meaning that the material used and the unclassified turquoise form are in the foreground and determine the visual effect. The title of the work refers to the color scheme of the artwork, as the turquoise and sandy tones combined with white remind the artist of the sea. One likes to be there, simply to breathe…
deeply, inhale the air, and enjoy the freshness. The painting is framed in a white wooden floater frame.
The picture can be easily hung on the wall using two screws/dowels and then rests against the wall.

« Good works of art have the power to captivate and delight every day, delight you, thereby enriching your life. I think that's great! »
Katja Gramann is a German artist whose painting is rooted in the Informel tradition. All her works are consistently abstract. Her art has been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Germany. Since 2022, Katja Gramann has also been successfully represented by a gallery in Belgium. Her participation in a summer exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art in London in 2022 brought her international recognition. In her painting, the artist pursues three styles: acrylic painting, mixed media (using ash, pigments, rock flour, charcoal, rust, and paper), and abstract collages made from fine Chinese paper, which Gramann colors herself, dries, and then arranges into a painting using a multi-layered process. Since 2021, Katja Gramann has taught painting at independent art academies in Vienna, Kolbermoor, and Bad Heilbrunn.
