About this artwork
The print explores the tension and unity between visibility and vulnerability. A female figure in deep brown stands in confrontation of her shadow, her mirrored self. Inspired by a series of intimate photographs, taken in a forest-like setting, the figures reflect both exposure and protection, openness and resistance. The dual postures– one open, one guarded –embody a single self: fragmented, fluid and whole.
This work is a meditation on the courage… to be seen and the layers we hold when we allow ourselves to emerge. Hand-pulled, deep brown oil-based ink on unbleached paper 120gram. There exist only two copies so far: with the artist protecting the right to make up to 11 prints in this series.

Kaya Heyman is a painter and printmaker with a foundation in architecture, working intuitively across drawing, painting, and linocut printmaking. She explores abstraction and symbolism, layering inks and mixed media with expressive, meditative techniques that allow intuition and subconscious imagery to surface. Her art embodies the cycles of transformation in the natural world and seeks to awaken personal reflection, wonder, and a sense of inner renewal in her viewers.
