About this artwork
This work emerged from my exploration of the theme of "urban views." The motif repeatedly employs the upward perspective of the courtyard of a southern-style residential complex. In stark contrast, the bright orange balcony segments stand out against the dirty brown, gray, and black facades of a dreary prefabricated building. A rectangular section of a cheerful summer sky, fringed by clouds and traversed by an airplane's contrail, offers a comforting…
glimmer of hope. This summery atmosphere, combined with the socialist-era aesthetic of the prefabricated buildings, evoked memories of a trip I took through Albania in the autumn of 2017, a sentiment reflected in the work's title, "Tirana, mirë ditë!" (Albanian for "Good morning, Tirana!").
