“Substrates”
This work is part of a series exploring the threshold between visibility and abstraction. The idea of flow becomes particularly tangible in this work: The greenish shimmering structures evoke moving fabrics, vegetative surfaces, or subconscious pictorial spaces—without becoming concrete.
I'm interested in the in-between stage: the moment in which form emerges and simultaneously dissolves. The movements in the image appear organic and… simultaneously remote—like a visual pulse between presence and disappearance.
The deep, dark zones create tension and space, while the wave-like forms evoke a sense of stillness in motion. The painting invites us to slow down our perception and engage with the sensual quality of form, light, and color.
It’s not about recognizing something – it’s about surrendering to the transition.
