About this artwork
Ocean Blues #5 by Angela Gebhardt is her latest addition to her popular Ocean Blues series. Like the others in the series, this painting showcases the artist's signature use of texture and color. The painting features a dynamic composition with various elements layered on top of one another, creating a sense of depth and movement. The predominant color is Gebhardt's signature blue hue, which ranges from deep to bright.
The texture of the painting… is complex, with different materials and techniques incorporated to create a tactile surface that invites closer inspection. Layers of thick material catch the light and cast shadows, alongside more delicate washes and drips.

« My Paintings are a “paintumentary.” Each piece is the story of an actual person, their hardships, successes, experiences, or an archetype of myself. »
Kris Gebhardt is an American contemporary mixed-media artist whose work is held in private and corporate collections across 20 countries, with placements in films, penthouses, banks, luxury residences, and commercial spaces.
Known for raw, distressed surfaces and large-scale figurative works, Gebhardt explores identity, resilience, and imperfection through unconventional materials and techniques. For 16 years, he has exhibited during Miami Art Week, building an international collector following.
Together with his wife, contemporary abstract artist Angela Gebhardt, the two maintain distinctly independent practices. Angela is recognized for her large-scale abstractions, layered surfaces, bold use of color and texture, and mixed-media assemblages.
