About this artwork
It is a piece of promontory rock by the muscular seashore of the west coast of the Isle of Islay. The winds, the onslaught of the sea, time have bitten the schist there in sharp cuts, digging, piling up, engraving the rock in an exhilarating nervous writing. Whether seen under a magnifying glass or from a little further away, the observation was fascinating.
