About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the timeless beauty of nature and its interaction with the cosmos. Using acrylic, I created a visual dialogue between delicate flora and space. Lilies are one of my favorite flowers, both in painting and in the garden. Their flower shape is a standard of beauty and lilies have been widely depicted in different periods of art history. I painted these lilies at the end of winter, longing for summer. In my painting,… flowers grow on an imaginary planet. They are self-sufficient and beautiful, but even on this planet, lilies are visited by some insects – lily beetles, snails and moths. I chose copper and caper tones for the background, and olive green and white with blue highlights to represent the lilies.
