About this artwork
In this work, the artist evokes the magic of a sunny afternoon in the city of Vasto, a municipality in the Abruzzo region of Italy, located along the Adriatic coast, where past and present merge in an embrace of spontaneous colors and shapes. This artwork was created with acrylics and natural colors mixed and applied on scagliola; the gesso base was then applied to canvas and mounted on a minimal wooden frame, handcrafted and colored by the artist.… (Scagliola is a type of fine plaster used in construction and sculpture, and is used to imitate marble.) The texture is vibrant and slightly exotic, while the expressionist touches give voice to the deepest emotions. Imagine this enveloping energy bringing warmth and serenity to your spaces.
Len Vernaghi, originally from Porrentruy but deeply rooted in Italy, is a multidisciplinary person: painter, photographer, designer, textile artist, engraver, sculptor. He stands out for his portable fresco technique, combining traditional pigments with alternative solutions, and uniting contrasting themes and styles. Her works reveal a powerful socio-political commitment, giving voice to frugality, nature, femininity and marginal places, with an atmosphere of wonder derived from her dreamlike subjects.
