About this artwork
Threshold is based on a photograph I took in the German Alps, but it is transformed by the way I intervened with paint, blurring its origin and taking it to another territory. I am interested in working from memory: how the past and the present intertwine, how in dreams fragments of different places blend into a single image.
In the work, these landscapes overlap and contaminate one another, generating an impossible geography, closer to a state… of mind than to a real place. Umbral speaks of this transition: of being between one time and another, between one image and another, in that ambiguous space where the lived, the remembered, and the imagined coexist.

His mixed media technique merges photography, oil painting, and drawing, exploring postmodern figuration and painterly intervention to create atmospheres of nostalgia and silence.
