A Day in the Rainforest was inspired by one of her many trips to the Peruvian Amazon. She has been there 8 times now. Linnea loves hiking through the jungle and taking photos. She has seen many interesting birds including toucans and parrots. Some of the birds in this painting she made up as well as the colour of the stream which is not a beautiful blue in person, it is brown. Linnea has seen ferns that were at least 2 stories high and poison… dart frogs that were the size of my pinky finger.
She paints on silk with silk paint but in the medium category section that was not offered so she had to choose watercolour, since both are water based.
« I see the vibrancy of the world around me and feel the need to sketch, paint, or draw it. »
Linnea Pergola is an experimented painter and textile artist based now in South Africa, whose works have been exhibited nationally in the United States, as well as in Switzerland, Germany, Puerto Rico, and Qatar. Her love of nature is apparent in her diverse compositions, as she often portrays both animals and birds. As such, Pergola is an advocate for animal rights and the unjust treatment of animals. Her incredibly detailed pieces are created with pencils, encaustics and oils, watercolors, and ink on paper or fabric.
