About this artwork
Blue Iris is part of my ongoing series Flowers of Life, where I explore the tension between fragility and resilience through the language of abstraction. In this work, a dynamic composition of gestural strokes, color fields, and textural layers evoke the shape of a blooming iris — a symbol of transformation, vulnerability, and inner power.
Unlike traditional floral depictions, this painting resists literal interpretation. The flower here is not… just a botanical form, but an emotional landscape — simultaneously open and guarded, expressive yet elusive. Vivid blues and greens flow across the surface like water or wind, intersected by sharp pinks and gestural marks reminiscent of graffiti or automatic writing. The interplay of oil and acrylic textures reflects my ongoing fascination with layering, erasure, and spontaneous gesture.
