About this artwork
As a young woman in Africa, I was deeply marked by the intensive deforestation of the primary forest in order to plant coffee and cocoa.
From that time, I still remember the convoys of trucks loaded with large stacked trunks, the smell of fire, the rapid disappearance of animals and long before the current late awareness, of my anxiety at the idea the dramatic consequences that this destruction would have on the environment and the living world… as a whole.
My relationship with the tree is therefore very strong. Mixed techniques, collage of tissue paper and impasto to find the pleated aspect of the trunk and the grain of the wood.

Ly-Rose has established herself as a unique contemporary artist whose works leave a lasting impression. Her approach seeks to express the inexpressible and translate the raw emotion of a moment. Her paintings are born from profound sensory experiences: a sunset over the Atlantic, the warm resin of pine trees, the breath of the surf—those suspended moments when everything seems to vibrate internally. Through color and texture, Ly-Rose opens spaces of perception and invites each viewer to complete the story. Her semi-abstract canvases are sources of light, energy, and breath. They offer a sensitive relationship with the world, favoring sensation over explanation, emotion over narrative. Through her art, Ly-Rose provides a place where one can dream, feel, and be moved.
