There are nights when nature seems to breathe more slowly — when moonlight moves across the water like a secret. Footsteps in Moonlight captures one such evening on the west coast of the Isle of Skye in Scotland. A series of small tidal islands glimmer beneath a luminous sky, the moon filtering through clouds to lay silver pools on the sea below.
This vertical black and white photograph is part of my ongoing exploration of light, solitude, and the… quiet power of landscape. It balances softness and structure — the gentle flow of the sea and sky set against the rich depth of monochrome tones.
Printed by me on Canson Baryta Photographique Matt II, a museum-grade paper celebrated for its velvet texture and extraordinary tonal range, the print glows with detail while preserving a painterly stillness. Each edition is signed, numbered, and produced in a strictly limited run.
This piece brings atmosphere, clarity, and calm — a dramatic yet peaceful presence.
I am drawn to the timeless beauty of Scotland’s remote coasts—the whisper of winds over Hebridean sands, the shifting light across ancient waters, the quiet drama of a sky before dawn. My work, steeped in lyrical abstraction, seeks not the exact form but the feeling of a moment. Each image is a meditation on place and memory, where colour and light breathe quietly together. Since 2012, I have journeyed to the Scottish Islands, creating works that now live in collections around the world. I have exhibited in the UK, New York, and South Korea, where my Skye Blue Abstracts—a long-running series in the deep blues that have become my signature—found a lasting audience. My art is a conversation with nature’s poetry, an invitation to pause, reflect, and find your own story in the folds of mist and shade.
