About this artwork
Fading into the Blue was created on a quiet morning at Luskentyre, just as the tide was pulling away from the sands. I was inspired by the colours—soft dusty blue, mineral green, and muted beige— it felt like they belonged to the silence of that moment. The beach was empty, the water calm, and there was a gentle stillness that seemed to stretch across the entire bay.
The luminous blue of the sky is reflected in the puddles of water that stretch… across silvery sand, the interplay between land, water and sky is a fleeting joy captured in seconds only to disappear forever.
This minimalist image is part of my *Liminal* series, which explores the in-between spaces where land, sea, and sky shift and blur.

I am drawn to the timeless beauty of Scotland’s remote coasts—the whisper of winds over Hebridean sands, the shifting light across ancient waters, the quiet drama of a sky before dawn. My work, steeped in lyrical abstraction, seeks not the exact form but the feeling of a moment. Each image is a meditation on place and memory, where colour and light breathe quietly together. Since 2012, I have journeyed to the Scottish Islands, creating works that now live in collections around the world. I have exhibited in the UK, New York, and South Korea, where my Skye Blue Abstracts—a long-running series in the deep blues that have become my signature—found a lasting audience. My art is a conversation with nature’s poetry, an invitation to pause, reflect, and find your own story in the folds of mist and shade.
