About this artwork
In this piece, I captured the tranquil meeting of earth and sea, blending soft pastels and gentle textures to evoke calm and reflection. My thoughts were to capture the natural colors, inviting you to feel the serenity and expansive quietness of the shore. It brings a peaceful, modern energy to any space, perfect for moments of contemplation and connection with nature’s subtle beauty.
Ostel Bay is a remote beach, often deserted. Walking through… soft grasses and silver sand dunes you reach this magical place at the end of a winding track to be greeted by a quiet shoreline of gently lapping water. On the horizon, shrouded in mist, a faint image of the Isle of Arran. This place is difficult to find and is often called "The Secret Beach', once there, you are transported to a minimalist world of delicate colours and a calming sense of wonder.

I am drawn to the timeless beauty of Scotland’s remote coasts—the whisper of winds over Hebridean sands, the shifting light across ancient waters, the quiet drama of a sky before dawn. My work, steeped in lyrical abstraction, seeks not the exact form but the feeling of a moment. Each image is a meditation on place and memory, where colour and light breathe quietly together. Since 2012, I have journeyed to the Scottish Islands, creating works that now live in collections around the world. I have exhibited in the UK, New York, and South Korea, where my Skye Blue Abstracts—a long-running series in the deep blues that have become my signature—found a lasting audience. My art is a conversation with nature’s poetry, an invitation to pause, reflect, and find your own story in the folds of mist and shade.
