If you travel to the wild north of Scotland on the west coast, then take the ferry to the Isle of Harris and Lewis, then continue north, you gradually lose all sense of the modern world.
My view of the world in this remote landscape changes to peaceful scenes of a gentle place surrounded by soft teal water. My heart lifts the farther I go until I reach the far side of the Isle of Lewis. Here, the small beaches are surrounded by ragged cliffs that… look out at the Atlantic Ocean with nothing to see for thousands of miles. Only a very few people live in small cottages dotting the hills in this lost paradise. When the mist rolls in, even the waves soften and are quiet. The colours of landscape and sea dissolve into one another like frosted glass and soft silver sand is caressed by teal water clear and pure as dawn drifts down in muted tones only hinting at pink.
Presented here on canvas but also available as a fine art paper print on request.
I am drawn to the timeless beauty of Scotland’s remote coasts—the whisper of winds over Hebridean sands, the shifting light across ancient waters, the quiet drama of a sky before dawn. My work, steeped in lyrical abstraction, seeks not the exact form but the feeling of a moment. Each image is a meditation on place and memory, where colour and light breathe quietly together. Since 2012, I have journeyed to the Scottish Islands, creating works that now live in collections around the world. I have exhibited in the UK, New York, and South Korea, where my Skye Blue Abstracts—a long-running series in the deep blues that have become my signature—found a lasting audience. My art is a conversation with nature’s poetry, an invitation to pause, reflect, and find your own story in the folds of mist and shade.
