About this artwork
In "Sorrel Seas" my view of the beach surrounded by the soft curving hills of North Harris was filled with waves. Waves of the ocean, waves in the flow of the hills and waves of the soft auburn grasses of the landscape. I wanted to capture and share the colours of a landscape that is quiet and peaceful yet impressive in the breadth of tones it encompasses.
Again, like Seurat's masterpieces, this piece is filled with contrasting colours that sit… side by side, dot by dot, pixel by pixel and they harmonise to fill the canvas with colour combinations that are unique and magical.
This piece is presented on canvas but is also available as a fine art paper print on request. All prints are made here in my studio on the Isle of Skye.

I am drawn to the timeless beauty of Scotland’s remote coasts—the whisper of winds over Hebridean sands, the shifting light across ancient waters, the quiet drama of a sky before dawn. My work, steeped in lyrical abstraction, seeks not the exact form but the feeling of a moment. Each image is a meditation on place and memory, where colour and light breathe quietly together. Since 2012, I have journeyed to the Scottish Islands, creating works that now live in collections around the world. I have exhibited in the UK, New York, and South Korea, where my Skye Blue Abstracts—a long-running series in the deep blues that have become my signature—found a lasting audience. My art is a conversation with nature’s poetry, an invitation to pause, reflect, and find your own story in the folds of mist and shade.
