About this artwork
In my series of paintings titled "Afghan Utopia," I envision a brighter future for Afghanistan, creating a visual manifestation of hope and light for the country. This subseries serves as a vision board, where I imagine and manifest a utopian version of Afghanistan, filled with mountains, sun, and majestic peace. Living in California, I have always been drawn to mountains and sunshine, feeling a deep connection to the landscapes of Afghanistan. I… long to share these landscapes with my sons and my parents, dreaming of the day when I can travel to Kabul and experience its beauty firsthand. Through these paintings, I express my belief that one day, my dream of a peaceful and beautiful Afghanistan will become a reality, where I can sit in a cafe, surrounded by mountains, basking in the warmth of the sun, and feeling truly at home.
« The universe gifted me a French edge, a Californian dream and some hot boiling Afghan blood and I channel it through my art. »
Manaz Raiszadeh is an artist based in France whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in the United States. Referring to herself as an "intuitionist abstract painter", the genesis of her artistic inspiration comes from her parent's tale and her Afghani cultural background. Raiszadeh often depicts houses and villages in her compositions, as she believes that "we can all relate to the place where we are from". She creates using acrylics, pastels, and collage on canvas or wood.
