About this artwork
In this work, I captured the quiet power of nature by contemplating the mist and trees in a contrasting play of black and white. The yellow frame serves to emphasize the dynamic between the vibrancy and mystical stillness of nature. This image is meant to invite the viewer to reflect on the hidden beauty and tranquility that is often right in front of our eyes but easily overlooked. It brings a calm yet powerful energy to any home, reminding us to… appreciate the simplicity and wonder of our natural surroundings.

I am María Gutiérrez, a visual artist from Bogotá, Colombia. In my artistic practice, I work with two focuses: painting and photography. Both media enable me to create emotional, atmospheric, and contemplative spaces that invite connection with oneself, one's surroundings, and nature. I completed my art studies in 2009 at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia with a focus on photography. I then taught art and photography at private schools in Bogotá for four years. In 2012, I moved to Germany. I later continued my studies at the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts and successfully graduated in 2021. Since then, I have been working as a freelance artist. Today, I live in Freiburg im Breisgau with my husband and our two children. My work has been exhibited in Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain, among other places.
