About this artwork
VERDE VIENTO welcomes the swallows and house martins that arrive with spring and benefit us so much. Their presence is essential, as they feed on flying insects and, during breeding season, can capture up to 2,000 insects a day. Without their visit, our lives would be much more uncomfortable and fragile, as we would be more exposed to the diseases that mosquitoes transmit to people and animals. This work speaks of respect, empathy, and the future.… I used acrylics on canvas treated with natural fiber paste to create texture. The swallows are made of wood treated with the same paste. A work that combines brushes with a scroll saw.
María Martínez Araujo is a self-taught artist who has cultivated this passion for years, combining it with her work in the social sector. She primarily uses acrylics on canvas or board, enriched with textures of natural fibers. With her FREQUENCIES series, she has created a form of communication that encompasses geometric structures formed by frequencies, seeking to generate a connection with the viewer and conveying calm, order, tranquility, and optimism. Another part of her work falls within the realm of expressive figuration or decorative tapestries inspired by patchwork, where she plays with vibrant color combinations. Her works as a whole convey a profound emotional connection and an enveloping energy that opens a sincere window into her inner world and her values of empathy, honesty, and sincerity.
