I stand between voices that are not mine, yet press in on me with equal force. In Witness to an Argument, I position myself as the uneasy mediator, absorbing tension without resolution. The figures crowd the space, their gestures and expressions exaggerated, almost volatile, as if language has broken down into raw impulse. I feel the weight of observation—complicit, yet powerless—caught in the discomfort of proximity. The surrounding marks and fractured…
colour mirror the psychological noise that fills the air. This is not just an argument; it is an atmosphere I inhabit, where clarity dissolves and the act of witnessing becomes its own burden.

Marc Rayner is an Australian artist based in Sweden who has exhibited his works nationally, as well as in Sweden, Monaco, France, Qatar, Italy, India, South Korea, Denmark, and Japan. The key to his artworks is the creation of 'quasi-landscapes' rich in text and design, or flat and almost devoid of information. This 'distorted zone' is a place where Rayner's tormented, disenfranchised, and often unfortunate characters exist. He is drawn to outsider artistic styles and naive art in broader terms.
