About this artwork
Two opposing states of mind are represented on this double-sided wooden board of a thickness of one centimeter: on one side Euphoria, on the back Melancholy. In both paintings the painter used an expressionist style using bright, contrasting and anti-naturalistic colors creating pleasant chromatic effects. Melancholy is interpreted by Euphoria is painted on one side of the panel and is represented by the running of a pair of lovers, a man and a woman,…
who advance smiling in a vortex of bright colors. The painting lends itself to being used alternately with the two subjects allowing you to vary the decor with a gesture. Melancholy is interpreted by the close-up of a female face supported and suspended between three hands, as if at the mercy of uncertainty and in the lack of a will/direction. In the background the roofs that recall a town in southern Italy. The work is offered without a frame but can be equipped with an interchangeable frame.

Marco Ronga is an experienced painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Italy whose works have been exhibited nationally and in England. He describes his works as fusing themes of the portrait and the human figure with suggestions of urban architecture and the landscape resuting in "portraits of places and landscapes of bodies". Ronga's painterly compositions are most often created with acrylics and oils on wood or canvas.
