About this artwork
The canvas presented here is part of the diptych entitled "Death and the girl". It is an iconographic theme of Renaissance origin, which has provided inspiration to authors in various artistic fields (for example the painting by Egon Schiele at the Leopold Museum in Vienna). In this case, the painter is freely inspired by Schubert's quartet with the same title.
The two canvases have compositional autonomy and here is proposed one representing a… nocturnal angel. The figure with intense gaze and chromatic contrasts helps to create the suggestion of a cathartic tension in the viewer.
