About this artwork
"The chase" is the ironic title that alludes to childhood games, certainly not to a detective film. The painter painted this picture thinking of his daughter's childhood, the childhood that every parent would like to ensure for their children. The euphoria and joy that one experiences in early childhood is a huge resource to draw upon throughout life. The subject is a moment of wild racing on a lawn in a park. Two women chase and play with two children…
sharing the rejuvenating vitality of childhood. The emotional climate is emphasized by the use of bright and expressionist colors also to underline the dynamism of the subjects.
